Below is a summary of the bare bones items you need to know to get started with all three services. If you have any problems with any of these features or if you need help understanding what’s available, feel free to call (877) 678-2763 (MstarME).
Internet Helps
Once the installer connects you to your browser of choice (Firefox, Explorer or Netscape) you can enjoy one of the fastest Internet experiences available. Your settings must be set to enable outgoing authentication. Also, your username is your full e-mail address which was assigned to you when you signed up for the service. You can choose to use integrated third-party applications like Outlook, Gmail, Yahoo and MSN. However, regardless of whether you set up a pop server account or use the account provided by Mstar you will still need to use Mstar’s outgoing mail server.
Phone Helps
Accessing your phone features is very simple. Call your own phone number from your Mstar phone. Then just follow the prompts to access your messages or change your settings. You can activate call waiting, "find me" and other features via the automated phone messaging center. The program will walk you through the process. You can also access your phone features by clicking on the "My Account" button at www.mstar.net.
Television Helps
Ultimately, this page is dedicated to helping you learn to use your remote control. Once you learn a few very basic things about your remote you will be able to navigate your television, set up your parental controls, set up your channel rotation and enjoy very clear television programming.
Begin by pressing the “STB” button in the upper left hand corner of your remote. Now you’ve programmed your remote to send its signal to the set top box instead of to the television. You can press the red power button at the top to turn on and off your set top box (note the light remains lighted at all times even when the unit is off). Now, while the set box is on, press the yellow “guide” button. This brings up the Minerva and allows you to see an updated listing of all the channels on your system.
You can toggle through each of the guide frames by pressing the guide button over and over again. Within each guide frame you can navigate through the content by using the blue arrow buttons. These allow you to check programming by time and channel up to 48 hours in advance. You can select channels and either add or delete them from your lists by using the arrow buttons and the middle “OK” button.
Once you’ve set your favorites list you will be able to avoid all other channels and only see the channels you’ve opted to include in your list. To see the rest of the channels, simply press the guide button until the full guide list appears, which will show more of the available channels. There are several frames which allow you to create multiple customized channel lists. After you’ve set your favorites list, you can leave it as your primary guide and exit the system by pressing the blue “exit” button.
