Digital TV transition

On February 17, 2009, all full-power TV stations in the United States will switch from analog to all-digital broadcasting. Digital broadcasting allows for better picture quality and more programming. It also frees up airwaves for emergency responders to use.

How will it affect me?

Mstar’s programming is already all-digital. If you are an Mstar customer, the digital transition will not affect you unless you have additional TVs receiving a signal through a rooftop or rabbit ear antenna. If you use an antenna to receive a signal on any of your TVs, and your TV does not have a built-in digital tuner, you will need a TV converter box to receive television over the air after February 17, 2009.

How do I get a TV converter box?

You can request a coupon from the federal TV Converter Box Coupon Program if you need a box to continue receiving a TV signal. Visit https://www.dtv2009.gov to fill out an application and see a list of retailers participating in the coupon program. For more information about the digital TV transition, or to apply for a converter box coupon, please visit http://www.dtv.gov/consumercorner.html or https://www.dtv2009.gov.
